Blackbird is a compact replacement for the original Dallas chip. It can be installed in existing socket, which make it plug and play solution, however it will not fit under metal shielding if installed this way. It is recommended to desolder the socket from the motherboard and solder in Blackbird instead. In case of the battery would run out, it can be easily replaced.
